Programs
The division oversees the implementation of programs necessary to the growth and development of the city:
  • Economic development
  • Housing
  • Public art.
The successful integration of each program builds a dynamic, vital city serving all of its residents.

The department is also responsible for overseeing the dissolution of redevelopment by continuing to implement the remaining obligations of the Redevelopment agency

Economic Development
The Department implements the city’s Economic Development Strategy and Implementation Plan , approved in March 2012. The Strategy provides an overview of economic development activities, evaluates the city’s strengths and weaknesses, and sets forth principal strategies guiding the economic development program. The Implementation Plan provides a work plan that is approved every 2 years with the city’s budget.

Affordable Housing Program
The goal of the city’s Affordable Housing Program is to Increase housing choice to home buyers and renters at all income levels by facilitating the development of market rate and affordable housing units, providing program funding and management, and coordinating homeless and fair housing services.

Public Art Program
The goal of the city’s Public Art Program is to develop innovative public art through strategic collaboration with artists, city departments, and local and regional arts organizations and businesses. The city has an extensive public art collection and actively acquires public art.
