Alameda County Health Officials Evaluating Reopening of Certain Activities in Emeryville

On Friday, August 28, 2020, the State of California announced a shift from its Monitoring List to a color-coded four-tier Blueprint for a Safer Economy. In doing so, the State altered the reopening plans for some businesses and activities, opening some that had been prohibited and imposing new standards on others. The State also reiterated that local Health Officers can be more restrictive than the State. Alameda County is in the Purple Tier, which indicates widespread COVID-19 in our county and Emeryville.

Alameda County Public Health Department ("ACPHD") has carefully examined the additional activities that may be permitted to reopen by the State in the Purple Tier. They are evaluating next steps and options for alignment with the State, while ensuring a reopening plan that reflects the specific disease conditions and needs in Alameda County and Emeryville.

In doing so, ACPHD is considering the risk, timing and cadence of reopening activities, as well as their downstream impact on local disease conditions that could limit future activities. ACPHD will issue another update this week on how they plan to proceed as they work through options and concerns.
