Star Intersection Affordable Housing (3706 San Pablo Avenue)

The City of Emeryville and Emeryville Redevelopment Agency (“Emeryville”) acquired this in the south-east corner of San Pablo Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard to develop affordable housing.  Former auto repair uses have left the site contaminated with cleaning solvents (halogenated solvent-TCE), in the site soil and groundwater.  The State of California Environmental Protection Agency (“Cal-EPA”) Department of Toxic Substances Control (“DTSC”) awarded the City a Targeted Site Investigation Award to focus the remediation plan for the site.  The remediation plan will be implemented in 2013 with the support of a United States Environmental Protection Agency (“U.S. EPA”), 2012 Cleanup grant for $200,000 for site remediation, as discussed in the Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alteernatives - ABCA.
